This contemporary 5000 sq ft home in Hillsborough, California designed by Robert Nebolon is located adjacent to an existing creek on a heavily wooded site “The design is based on Vastu Shastra principles which were modified to adapt to California outdoor living for an ‘East meets West’ fusion. To fit the odd site and address vastu, the final building form evolved into a three‐wing solution: the wings skew at a 15‐degree angle to each other thus making way for gardens and allowing daylight to penetrate the house in unexpected ways.
Throughout the home and especially evident in the main central living room, colorful large art pieces enliven the space. Large windows and glass doors allow views into the surrounding landscape and merge the homes interior with the garden to blur boundaries. It’s like living in an arboretum inside and out.
